People shouldn’t talk about poo they know nothing about.
I just spent half an hour arguing with someone; of which I completely proved them wrong, only to have them say they didn’t care in the first place, and then when that didn’t work, they tried to say well we weren’t really talking about the same thing. Pfft. So when that didn’t work, they went back to “Well, I don’t care. I’m done.” They wouldn’t admit I was right and they were wrong, they wouldn’t even concede that I was correct.
Stupid, stupid people!!!
I have the utmost respect for someone that can get completely thrashed, and admit “oh my god, you’re absolutely right” instead of saying “oh, well the reason really is—.” I have no respect for those people, nor should I. Non sequiturs are bad.
When I get into a debate with someone, I will certainly concede if I am wrong; however, you dang well better be able to actually prove me wrong.
Of course, this is in reference to black & white issues. Meaning yes or no, with no alternatives. For example, logical statements disregarding morality; those can be black & white. Now things like religion or other unprovable (sorry guys) topics can be referred to as gray, meaning that there is no clear cut answer, and it comes down to opinions, or there are many possible answers; in which cases, people must agree to disagree or you will infinitely be in a bout with one another. This is the very clear choice, of course; however, as previously mentioned, agreeing to disagree is not possible for all debates. Generally, it’s possible in most debates, but not arguments.
I love debates, I hate arguments. Note word usage above. I was arguing with someone, I chose that word because I was right the entire time, and they just used logical fallacy after fallacy. Like for example, they flat out claimed I was wrong about something before I had even said anything, I asked how they knew if I hadn’t said anything, and a cat got their tongue. They just went down hill from there, really…
As with what I said above, I’ll end this with a quote and a little comment on it:
“Ignorance can be Cured. Stupidity is for ever.” -Samuel Clemens
You may not know about something, but if you’re intelligent and open minded enough to see when you’re wrong, then you’re an amazing person. If you don’t know about something, are close minded and refuse to concede, just remember a closed mind may as well be a dead mind.
That’s it for now! Just had to get that off my chest.
